About Me

The Art of the Pivot: From the Screen to the Studio

Design Today: Information Synthesis

Today, I blend the "big picture" storytelling of film with the technical precision of my legal experience. I focus on transforming dense, high-stakes requirements into intuitive digital experiences.

  • Sector Experience: Collaborating with Y-Combinator-backed tech startups, non-profits in early childhood education, and production houses.

  • Specialization: High-level information synthesis, brand systems, and UX/UI design.

The Creative Spark: Film & Theater

My path to graphic design wasn’t a straight line—it was a series of creative evolutions. I began my career under the bright lights of film sets and theater stages, originally training as an actor.

  • The Realization: While working on a television series, I was asked to design a graphic prop for the show.

  • The Takeaway: Seeing my work integrated into a physical, storytelling environment sparked a realization: design is more than aesthetics—it’s the quiet architecture behind every story we tell.

The Strategic Shift: Trademark Law

That curiosity followed me into a surprising second act in the legal world. As a legal assistant, I spent years navigating the USPTO and working intimately with brand identities.

  • Legal Precision: Filing trademark applications allowed me to see logos through a strategic and legal lens.

  • Identifying Friction: My frustration with outdated software in office administration solidified my mission: I didn't just want to look at logos; I wanted to build the systems that made them work.

With a background in trademark law, I don’t just design logos; I understand their strategic and legal weight.

With a background in film, I don’t just create visuals; I build narratives.

MY PHILOSOPHY

  • Clarity over Clutter: I believe the most complex problems deserve the simplest solutions.

  • Precision with Empathy: My legal background taught me the 'how,' but my theater background taught me the 'who.'

  • Inclusive by Design: Representation isn't an afterthought; it's a foundational requirement.

Beyond the Screen: Heritage & Heart

My work is a reflection of my half-Japanese, half-American heritage—a balance of diverse perspectives and a drive to find beauty in the mundane details.

  • The "Moral Support" Team: Usually accompanied at my desk by my two bunnies.

  • Tactile Hobbies: When I’m not designing, I’m exploring the Utah mountains, practicing pottery, or leaning into my "beige flag"—trying to DIY absolutely everything.
